Grassroots Leaders Urge Giovanni Capriglione to Oppose Democrat Chairs
Last week, Southlake Families’ Leigh Wambsganss and over 90 Tarrant County elected officials and grassroots leaders sent a letter to State Rep. Giovanni Capriglione to oppose any Speaker candidate who supports appointing Democrats to leadership positions in the Texas House.
So far, Tarrant County Republican State Reps. Tony Tinderholt, Nate Schatzline, David Cook, and Rep.-Elect David Lowe have all gone on the record pledging to oppose Democrat chairs and any Speaker candidate who supports them. However, State Reps. Giovanni Capriglione, Charlie Geren, and our Republican nominee for HD 97, John McQueeney, have thus far declined to make that commitment.
Signers for the letter to Capriglione include the mayors of Keller, Colleyville, and Southlake, the recently-elected members of the Tarrant Appraisal District, our Republican nominee for Tax Assessor Collector Rick Barnes, Tarrant County GOP Chairman Bo French, dozens of precinct chairs, activists, and many others.
